THINGS WE MAKE #1

DUMPSTER HOODIES

Dumpster Hoodies are made by Circulate, using the old woollen jumpers that get dropped off at Xtreme Waste or local op shops that are too damaged to be sold as they are.

These discarded woollen jumpers are sad old things; holey, marked, shrunken, scarred, paint splattered, worn out or just plain UGLY. Their fate may have been either;
a.) landfill or
b.) to be used as garden mulch by the folks at Xtreme (which is great but takes a heck of a lot of processing and ages to break down, PLUS it sure doesnt keep a body toasty warm over winter like a hoody could!).

These woollen jumpers are collected, cleaned, de-bobbled, de-flufferised, revived and darned (where necessary) and then I add hoods, pockets and emblems, which are also made out of the offcuts of the old jumpers I have already used!

CIRCULATE: BLOG IN PROGRESS

Circulate-nz.blogspot is a blog in progress. At this point in time it is an unfinished but developing project, just one part of the creative social enterprise that is Circulate...Feel free to have a nosy around, but make sure to come back in a wee while (late June) to see it functioning a little more in the way that I envision it :-)

Looking forward to the future of Circulate!

Secondhand Sunday - Get Rid of Your 'Junk' for Free !

"No one could make a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little." Edmund Burke

Went for a drive around Cambridge with Ma today - went out a bit late so not sure whether it was REALLY successful and we had just missed all the good stuff, or whether Cambridge is still switching on to this new idea... found a few goodies; a teapot, a Crow Lynn bowl, a bright blue metal filing box and four bags of free feijoas! (despite the 'no food' warning! but who cares! YAY for free feijoas!).... saw MULTIPLE TV's out there though... a bit sad considering NZ's TV Take Back program....

Look out for this in the future - who can beat giving things away instead of dumping them!
